Scale Method

The first method will only work for loose diamonds, as we will weigh the diamond on a scale that uses either gram or milligram units. A food scale should be able to provide a weight for the diamond in grams. Once you have weighed the diamond, enter the amount of grams or milligrams in the area provided below. From here, our formula will determine the carat weight of your diamond.

Measuring Method

If you want to know the carat weight of a diamond in an engagement ring setting, or something else like a bracelet or earrings, you will have to use the measurement method. The first step of this method is to determine the shape of your diamond, because the formula used will depend on whether your have a round or square shaped diamond.

Round-Shaped Diamonds

Some round diamond shapes include oval, marquise, standard round, and more. If your diamond is one of these shapes, you can use the table below to find its carats. For square-shaped diamonds, scroll down to the next calculator.

There are three measurements that you will  need to take of your diamond for the diamond carat size calculator to work. Square-Shaped Diamonds
